◆Purpose
This event is being held as part of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science HiramekiTokimeki Science ~ Welcoming to a University Research Laboratory ~ KAKENHI [Kagaku Kenkyu Hi ("Science Research Funds")] Program in order to present the research acheivements of the KAKENHI described below in a way that can be easily understood by elementary and junior high school students. The program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the importance of science and technology by seeing, hearing and interacting with some of the achievements of the cutting-edge research.

At this event we hope to help participants learn that there are many different forms of communication by having them make text boards and converse with each other using these tools.

Put it simply, communication with text boards is a kind of "communication game" played with your eyes.

By playing a simple quiz game in which they ask and answer questions using a text board, the participants will be able to directly experience what it is like to live with disabilities.

In the afternoon a patient who uses a text board to communicate will be invited to give a talk about staying strong and not giving in to illness.

After the talk participants will be given time to communicate with the patient.

Participants will also have the chance to make a switch that can be used to operate a computer using just one finger.
