SHINOGI Ryo@"Issues of Media, Technologies and Representations over Living with Diseases, Aging, Disabilities and Differences"

I sometimes think that living with a body which is unable to be controlled, as a result of such things as diseases, aging and disabilities is very difficult. These difficulties may be caused from inside the body or outside the body when the body socializes with the world. As the body is unable to be controlled, a person with the body often tries to express his/her difficulties to someone. When the person expresses something to someone, he or she sometimes has difficulties expressing the contents to be expressed or acting for expressing themselves. Or when the person lives with someone who is able to control his or her body better or someone who is unable to do so better, differences of the difficulties may lead to differences of the way of expression over each other, irrespective of the person's intention. It might result in the creation of more difficulties in living for the person with the body. The difficulties are complicated and last for an entire life time rather than occurring and disappearing simultaneously that they accumulate over time. The accumulation may lead to creation of history. Thus, it is important to continue reconsidering the representation on / by persons with diseases, aging and disabilities and the significance of media technology for them. My research subject is the association between human mentality, body and media and a modern representation that has been produced from the association.
