Content Explanation
It is some 70 years since MATUI Taro immigrated from Japan to Brazil. After struggling with the tough land and severe climate in Brazil, the elderly immigrant started writing novels when he reached the age of 60 years old. Stories were elaborated in the language of his home country. In his novels, there exist different strength and freshness from other novels currently written and read in Japan. This book includes outstanding works of MATSUI Taro, a lone immigrant writer being introduced in Subaru in August 2008 and received an enthusiastic public response.

Contents (From gBOOKh Data Base)
A lone writer, MATSUI Taro, immigrated to Brazil at his young age and has lived his life in the land since then. He has continued writing his works in Japanese in such a linguistically isolated environment. This book is a long-awaited collection of his outstanding works. Four short stories are included besides the name piece that he descries the critical points in which Japanese become non-Japanese by surviving the bold life of the second generation of Japanese immigrants in the remote areas of Brazil where the mighty river runs.
