Research Center Ars Vivendi at Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto City)
published a report
Techniques of Support for Students with Visual
Disabilities (Printed 182 pages, A5 size). The center offers the
report free of charge (except the actual postage cost).
This report summarizes the techniques available to support students
with visual disabilities in higher educational institutions such as
university. It overviews the situation of support in universities,
introduces support techniques using computers and text data, and
covers copy-write issues and publishers' cooperations. It also
includes the actual guidebook of how to prepare text data, based on
experience of the university's support group.

AOKI Shintaro of Graduate School
of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences, who has weak eyes and edited
the report says, "We hope this report can improve the accessibility
in study and research for people with visual disabilities". The center
can also provide text data of the report by email or CD-ROM, and
plans to make the DAISY format publication as well. Please contact
