Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities (MFPD) Press Statement

(1) Under the law of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2015, section (45), Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities (MFPD), national level federation, was formed on 30th March 2016 and has been working for the rights of persons with disabilities.
(2) The priority actions of MFPD, since its establishment, are to promote,protect and collaborate the rights of persons with disabilities which described in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), ratified by My anmar on 7th December 2011 and Rights of Persons with Disabilities law which enacted on 5th June 2015.
(3) A video clip evidence shows that on February 15, 2021 at Takhondaing Cycle, Mandalay, a young man with physical and intellectual disability named H an Thet Zaw (Father Aung Naing) was brutally beaten by the group of polices with their batons.
(4) By this statement, Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities strongly condemn such inhumane torture committed against a young man with disability, Ha n Thet Zaw, and urge that proper actions are taken against the perpetrators of such violence and torture.
