文化遺産に携わる機関がジンを扱う仕事をしようとしていることに関して、以下の点はどんなに強調してもしたりない。ジン・カルチャーの世界から雇った人全員に対して、対価を支払う必要があること。そこで行なうワークショップや諸活動は、〔参加〕無料のものであること。無給のファシリテーターによって運営される〔参加費〕15ポンド〔＝約2,233円〕のワークショップは、DIY（Do It Yourself）ではない。
Heritage organisations looking to work with zines, I can't stress this enough: you need to pay anyone you employ from these cultures, and your workshops and activities should be free. £15 workshops run by unpaid facilitators are not DIY.

一般的に言って、ラディカルでDIYのサブカルチャーの人たちと制度化された（機関内の）場で仕事をする際には、その文化の源となる背景と政治性を尊重することが、互いにとって有効な協同実践をするうえでの「極めて重要な」こととなる。
In general, if you're working with radical and DIY subcultures in institutional spaces, respect for the originating context and politics is *crucial* to collaborative practice that works for both sides

参考までに。私自身は、組織の状況のなかでスライド制の賃金で働いていて、ワークショップとフリーの企画編成を対価を得るために遂行している。そして、コミュニティ主導の場においては、主催者の支払可能な額で仕事をする。対価が前金で払われるタイミングを諸機関が明確にしてくれたら、それは私にとってとても価値があることだ。
FYI, I work on a sliding scale basis and deliver my workshops and freelance programming for money in organisational contexts and on a pay what you can basis for community-led spaces. I really value it when institutions make it clear when an opportunity is paid up front.
