Abstract:
This research was conducted to examine the function (effect) of a hiragana table which was facilitating the key selection during making word-mail of cell phone in two Deaf persons with mental retardation. The effect of hiragana-sound table was analyzed through reversal(ABAB) design in experimental setting, i.e., (A) Condition without Hiragana table; the participants was required to select keys following the presentation of the sample word. (B) Condition with Hiragana table; the participants were permitted to use the hiragana card when they select the keys. Results showed that the hiragana table functioned as a sufficient assist tool for making words of cell phone. Both number of incorrect key operation and the time for completion of input were decreased by the introduction of the hiragana card.
