Training of Functional Verbal Behavior by Multi-modal Usage of T.V. Cell Phone in Deaf Persons with Intellectual Disabilities

Abstract:
Two senior Deaf adults with mental disability were taught to request(mand) some objects to the listener by using T.V. function of cell phone. Depend on the requests by the "listener", the participants were required to choose one of the three ways of T.V. phone device of cell phone, i.e., showing object directly, showing manual signs of participant, or showing handwriting letters written by the participants. After intensive training of the required skills mainly by prompting and fading in the laboratory setting, two participants showed generalization in community settings and could purchase the cakes by the request of another participant through T.V. phone device of cell phone.
